After a long wait I am finally leaving tonight after work to drive to Boston for the National Organization for Women’s annual conference. Check back as I will be updating from the conference and Boston regularly.
If you’re free and want to check out the conference yourself it starts this Friday, July 2nd, at 8am. Friday and Saturday is jammed packed with different workshops, many of which are body image related due to this year’s theme. Below are some of the workshops that I have decided to attend, there were so many to choose from that I wish I could be at them all.
America, the Beautiful: Are We Obsessed with Beauty?
Politics 2010: Tea Parties, Racism and Anti-Abortion Rights “Feminists”
Toxic Media: Misogyny, Pornography and Pop Culture
Exploding the Beauty Ideal: An Exploration of Body Identity, Culture and Race
Building a Movement: Abortion Storytelling to Heal and Combat Stigma and Shame
There are many more on the website complete with speaker information and details about each workshop!
P.S. thanks to my bestie for letting me sleep on her floor in Boston. I wouldn’t have been able to plan this trip without you!
